  • Day 12: 4th Day at Disney

The kids wore their ICT bike shirts on Wednesday!

Of course we start the day with a monorail ride to the park:

The old People Mover/Rocket Rod tracks are still up in Tomorrowland.  I wonder what they are planning to do with them?

We had tickets to go to Mickey's Morning Madness in Toontown. They open that part of the park for ticketholders an hour early, and Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Pluto do a little show. Toontown City Hall:

Roni and Carl love the little Toontown roller coaster, but they only get to ride it on Morning Madness day because there is no way we will wait in line 45 minutes for a 30-second ride! Me, Roni, and Carl on the coaster:

Steve, Roni, and Carl on the coaster:

Trying to escape from the Toontown Dog Pound:

    A very heavy weight:

Steve, Carl & Roni went on the Matterhorn Bobsleds while Étienne rode the carousel:

Then I went to Main Street to do some shopping and left Steve with the kids, and look what happened:

They also rode on the Storybook Land boats, and because they waited an extra turn the skipper let Carl and Roni sit up on the prow, which is usually saved for birthday kids:

After three cool days, it finally warmed up to a more normal June/July temperature:

We went back over to California Adventure that afternoon and everyone except Étienne went on the California Screaming roller coaster. Here's Steve and Carl just after it launched:

It's the biggest coaster Disney has, but it's not very scary. The best part is the music they pump through the loudspeakers.

That afternoon we went to one of our favorite spots at the Disneyland Hotel, the Lost Bar overlooking the miniature Jungle Boats you can sail around the pond. The kids enjoy some root beer, while Steve and I had some foofy drinks:

Carl got his jungle boat under the waterfall twice!

Back behind the Lost Bar is a huge set of waterfalls leading up to the Wonder Tower of the hotel (we were in the Dreams Tower, and registration is in the Magic Tower.) There's also an old raised pond back there where they used to have a little water show. At the end of July, they will be tearing that all out and putting in a giant new pool. So here is our last look at the waterfalls:

    And video:

Next to the Lost Bar is Hook's Pointe restaurant and underneath it, the Wine Cellar. Those will be going away too. We have had dinner at Hook's Pointe several times, but we had dinner at the Wine Cellar for the first and last time.

As you can see, they are not too busy which is no doubt part of the reason Disney is tearing them out. The view of Downtown Disney, and the parks beyond, from our room:

Steve and Roni went back in to Disneyland Wednesday night to watch the fireworks from Main Street. They boys passed out in our room before they even started. One day at Disney left!
