  • Weekend Before Christmas

Today was the kids' Christmas Pageant at church. They all did a great job, and I will try to write it up tomorrow. Meanwhile, here are some other happenings this weekend.

Carlton went to a birthday slumber party Friday night, and according to him when we picked him up Saturday morning, he "didn't sleep at all." Predictably, he passed out on Saturday afternoon, and his considerate little brother Étienne used him as a backrest.

The Christmas Pageant was right after the second service, so we were home by 2 PM and I took the opportunity to do some cooking. I canned a batch of pumpkin butter, and made a chicken pot pie (from the cookbook Steve gave me for Christmas last year) for dinner.

We've noted before that the flickering candle bulbs in the candles we put in the upstairs windows bear an unfortunate resemblance to the Amityville Horror house. Steve took a video tonight, with sound effects provided by Carlton (who has never actually seen the film.)

It's The Burrow's Nightmare Before Christmas!
