This entry is overdue but necessary. After living downtown the past six weeks, we begin our new life in Ballard. No more commutes in the car getting the kids to and from school. Now we walk! The middle and elementary schools are each about 0.6 miles from the house. The walks are wonderful with herbs and vegetable gardens lining the sidewalks. We each have rain gear but in the three weeks so far, we have had only mild sunny weather.
Here is the empty house with the first footsteps.
I let the kids enjoy the wide open spaces before the first of three moving vans began unloading.
The downstairs family room became one of many catch all areas. Some day it will be the kids TV/entertainment area. Between the book cases and couch, this room will never really be open.
This downstairs kitchen will come in handy for large holiday meals. The ovens may be small (24 inch) but I have two electric ones upstairs, and a gas oven down.
For our house guests, this guest room rounds out the basement. The whole basement is set up as a stand alone apartment with a 3/4 bath, laundry, and separate entrance.
Sometime this summer, I misplaced our favorite cheese box back in Kansas. We only hoped it got packed and sure enough, here it is. One of the many highlights during our move in.
I think I roasted a chicken for dinner. Our first family dinner in the house would not be complete without that crisp martini I worked so hard for.

Maybe my refresh on my phone isn't working properly because I'm just now seeing this. *sigh* And I'm at work where getting all teary-eyed isn't a great idea, but I'm just so very very happy for you.
