Rain City Stampede
Today was the Rain City Flyers home cross-country meet - the Rain City Stampede. It was held at Woodland Park, where RCF practices twice a week (three times if there's not a meet), so Veronica knew the course. Her previous best time was 14:01 for the 3000 m, so I told her a good goal would be to try to break 14 minutes.
Today was damp and rainy, the first time there has been rain during a meet. Veronica is in the rear of the first picture, center in the second.Crossing the finish line:What was her time? (Note: I was supposed to do this last weekend at the Run the Rock meet on Whidbey Island, but was so excited cheering I forgot to hit stop on the stopwatch.)Official time: 13:17!! New personal best by 44 seconds!Veronica was 11th overall for Midget Girls, and 7th for Rain City Flyers, so she got one of the 1st place team ribbons. She has been wanting a team ribbon and hadn't ever placed high enough to get one, so she was pretty happy.Happy Fall! We had our housewarming party last night, and had a great mix of work friends, school friends, family, and neighbors. Found out which house has the "climbing tree" and that the couple who lives there doesn't mind coming home and finding four kids up in it.
