  • The Salmon are Running

    13November_37867
On Sunday we headed to a creek in Carkeek Park. The salmon are spawning and we got a closeup look of the fish. This was the real deal. 18-24 inch salmon navigate the turbulent waters to a gravel area perfect for spawning. The expired fish attract predators and can be seen all along the banks of the creek.

Edited to add a video of the giant fish!

The action will last all month!

  • Spawning on gravel? Not my idea of a good time. If the predators can be seen all along the banks of the creek, I must be blind. Or I misunderstood and you were referring to the expired fish, in which case I'm wondering if they're like fruit that falls from a tree, and if you collect 'em fast enough after "falling," you can eat them, but at some point of their post-coital passing they're no longer suitable for human consumption.
